Guides

All of our guides run Clakacrafts, always clean and comfortable.

The Slide Inn on the Madison River has some of the best fly-fishing guides in the business. From the advanced angler to the beginning fly-fisher, the Slide Inn fly fishing guides make sure that you have the best possible day on the famous Madison River or numerous other fishing destinations.

Kelly has been guiding and outfitting fly-fishermen for over twenty-five years, and he knows what it takes to create a great guide staff. "My guides will work as hard as they can to assure you of a great day on the river, you have my word on that."

The Slide Inn guides are great fly fishermen and guides, but more importantly, they understand that this is about having fun and learning while enjoying a great Montana fly-fishing vacation. You will find no attitudes here, just good guides that understand what it takes to have a great day on the river.

We offer float and wade trips to many of the rivers in Montana including the Madison, the Gallatin, the Jefferson, the Yellowstone, and the Big Hole. And if you like fly fishing for trophy trout in lakes, ask us about our incredible lake fishing!

Scotty Hall, Guide

Head Guide Scotty Hall

Scotty Hall grew up in Northern Michigan where he has been fishing since the age of 8 and has been guiding for the past 9 years. At the age of 20, Scotty moved to Colorado to pursue his skiing career where he skied amature and professionally on the Bud Pro Mogul Tour. It was there that Scotty learned the art of fly-fishing on the Colorado, Blue, and Arkansas Rivers. Realizing his love for fly-fishing, Scotty moved back home to Michigan where he began guiding full time. He now spends the spring and fall seasons guiding the Pere Marquette and Manistee Rivers for trout, steelhead, and salmon and the summer on the Madison River in Montana. Scotty fishes 250 days a year but he still finds a little time to go skiing.

Andy Sobota, Guide

Guide Any Sobota

Guide Andy Sobota

Andy hails from Spring Creek country in the Midwest. He grew up fishing the spring creeks of Wisconsin at an early age, only to travel to Montana during the summers to guide for the Slide Inn. On his spare time, he loves nothing more than to stalk tiny trout with tiny rods and tiny flies. He'd never admit to you he's a full blown streamer Junkie— Ok...he would. When he's not guiding and searching for trout, he can usually be found at the vice, tweaking other people's flies, or inventing his own.

John McClure, Guide

Guide John McClure

A self-confessed angling addict, this will be John's fifth year working at the Slide. When he’s not out on the water, you can find him sleeping, eating, or tying—but not much else. John is another one in the long line of streamer enthusiasts working for Kelly, and is always looking for new converts. He currently resides in Missoula, Montana.
