Madison River Fishing Report for July 28th, 2017

Dam: 1,220 cfs

Kirby: 1,490 cfs

Varney: 1,670 cfs

Madison River fishing report.  The Upper Madison is still in great shape with flows around 1,500 cfs at the Kirby gauge and just over 1,600 cfs at Varney Bridge.  The cooler temps and thunderstorms this week were a welcome change from the bright sun and scorching 95 degree highs we experienced throughout the middle part of the month; however, it looks like we will be heading back to high sun and highs in the mid to upper 80’s after the weekend.

Madison River Fishing Report for July 17th, 2017

Dam: 1,180 cfs

Kirby: 1,500 cfs 

Varney: 1,810 cfs

Madison River fishing report. The Upper Madison is still fishing well on all fronts this July, and colder nighttime temps have started to bring the river down a few degrees first thing in the morning.  We are still looking at highs in the mid to upper eighties for the rest of the week, and water temps continue to hover between 62 and 70 degrees at the Kirby gauge.

Madison River Fishing Report for July 9th, 2017

Varney: 1,980 cfs

Madison River fishing report.  The Upper Madison is still fishing very well these days with both nymphs and dry flies alike.  We’ve had some good streamer action in the morning and then again at night, but it has been a little slower once the insect activity begins to shift into full gear.  We are still seeing decent amounts of salmonflies between Raynolds and the West Fork, but there have been a lot more golden stones flying around over the last several days and fish are still looking for the big dry in these areas.
