Peacock & Ostrich
Peacock is one of the fishiest natural materials you can put on a hook. We use peacock herl for bodies on prince nymphs and beetles, thoraxes on nymphs like Kelly’s hare’s ear, and backs for small baitfish patterns. Not only is it a very versatile feather, but fish seem to like it to. Ostrich is another feather that is extremely fishy. It has been used by the steelhead crowd for years to create wings on intruders and similar patterns, but it also comes in handy for Stillwater patterns and larger mayfly nymphs.
