Fishing Report for May 10th, 2010

Madison River Report

Hebgen Dam: 663 cfs

Kirby: 731 cfs

The warmer temperatures of April seem to have dissipated into thin air, as rain and snow continue to provide the area with much needed moisture after a fairly easy winter in South West Montana.  The Upper Madison has been fishing very well in between the lakes, as the rainbows continue to move up from Quake to start a new generation.  There have been decent numbers of Midges and BWOs on top, but the nymphing is really where its at right now.  San Juans, midges, baetis nymphs, and eggs are all taking good fish right now, and things should only improve as they begin to release more water in the weeks to come.  Streamer fishing has been really good as well, particularly on olive and black colored patterns like sex dungeons, circus peanuts, double screamers, and peanut envys.  All in all, it should be a good opener this Saturday, and we hope to see you all out here.
