Not much has changed over the last four days…lots of solitude and great fishing on nymphs and streamers up here on the Upper Madison. Visibility is still holding at around a foot and the river is running green. We got word today from PPL that the flow out of Hebgen will be increased by approximately 100 cfs starting at 11:00 tomorrow morning, and with all the rain in the forecast over the weekend it should make for another great worm hatch along the banks. We’ve been doing best on red, pink, and purple san juans trailed behind warbirds and pat’s rubber legs, but small baetis nymphs and caddis larva have been getting the job done as well. Streamer fishing has been great to just plain stupid when the clouds have rolled in, and black has been the color of choice for the larger browns up and down the river.
