Galloup’s Sump

I came up with this fly for the jackson hole one fly competition that takes place every year on Idaho’s snake river. The flies are not allowed to be bigger than a size 8 for this contest, so I needed a fly that looked big on a smaller hook. The grizzly hackles give it the barring in the tail and the grizzly marabou on the wing give it the desired profile and bulk that I like in a big fish fly. Since the event, the sumps has become one of my go to flies, and we now tie it in a larger size. Size: 4.

The grizzly hackles give this streamer a mottled effect in the tail and the grizzly marabou wing fills out in the water to give it the desired profile and bulk that I like in a big fish fly. Since the event, the sump has become one of my go to flies and we now tie it in a larger size 4.
