Dave Bloom’s Parachute Flying Ant is a simple but highly effective ant pattern that no terrestrial box should be without.  At first glance this bug doesn’t look like anything special, but year after year it continues to fool selective trout on rivers across the West.  Bloom’s parachute flying ant features a dubbed body, z-lon wing, and a pink parachute post for easy strike detection, and fish will come a long way to eat this pattern in the madness of a flying ant fall.  One thing that is nice about this fly is that it works just as well for a regular adult ant, and it has become one of our favorite searching patterns on the Madison from late July through September.  Bloom’s parachute flying ant is available in rust and black in sizes 12-14.
