Galloup’s Butt Sump

(2 customer reviews)

The Butt Sump is a small yet highly effective sculpin imitation that works well on the strip as well as on the dead drift. Colors: Tan, Olive, Brown.

SKU: N/A Category:

I designed the Butt Sump for the Jackson One-Fly competition, and represents a hybridization of the Sump that I fished the previous year and the Butt Monkey…The combo was an immediate success. Fish eat this fly with such confidence that it is often all the way down their throats, and also works great when fished with dead drift. One of my best days of ’08 occurred when I was fishing this pattern in tan– I am not sure how many fish I landed that day but what I remember most is that not a single fish ever missed the fly, which, as any streamer angler knows, is pretty rare. Color: Tan, Olive. Available in Size 4. (2.5 in. long)

A deadly streamer as Kelly notes! I fish it in North Carolina with great success. Sometimes swung, sometimes stripped. Always on a 200 grain line on my 6wt streamer rod.

Man this is a great swimming pattern. I’m just starting to fish streamers using my 6wt and this lightweight pattern soaks up just enough water to make it an easy cast. I had it out today and was holding really tight loops with a sidearm cast under the trees on the bank of a local lake. I’d highly recommend this pattern.
