Orvis Lightning Bug

Description

The Orvis Lighting Bug is an incredible attractor style nymph that works well for us during the heat of the summer.  This version is a little different than the standard lighting bugs we sell in a few respects. Unlike the original which is on a straight hook and has more of a mayfly profile, the orvis lightning bug is tied on a scud hook and has more of a caddis profile.  In fact, we also do very well on this pattern during a caddis hatch as the bright body and curved profile that we feel imitates the reflective sheen of an emerging caddis pupa.  Another slight difference in this pattern is that it uses burnt orange squirrel dubbing in the thorax rather than the peacock herl found in the original fly.  Either way, the orvis lightning bug is one nymph that should always have a few slots in your box.
