We use strung peacock herl for the wing case on all of kelly’s hares ears as well as for the thorax on the popular shop vac nymph. However, this material also works great for making fishy looking backs on large streamers, and is a great way to add sheen to all of your favorite steelhead and Atlantic Salmon patterns. Long story short, strung peacock herl is an indispensable material for the innovative and conventional fly tyer alike, and the 1/4 ounce package contains enough 5″-7″ herl to last you for quite some time.
