Three Dollar Serendipity

Description

Affectionately known as the $3 dip, the three dollar serendipity was created by the late Nick Nicklas of blue ribbon flies.  The only difference between the fly we sell in the shop and the original pattern is that Kelly added one strand of pearl krystal flash on each side of the wing.  Simply put, if you plan on nymph fishing the Madison then you would be fighting an uphill battle without this pattern in your box.  The three dollar serendipity is one of those patterns that doesn’t imitate anything in particular, but seems to work for midges, mayflies, and caddis emergers depending on the size you fish it in.  We tend to do best on this pattern for small caddis and midges in size 18, and go with the 14’s and 16’s when some of the larger caddis and PMDs are on the water.  The three dollar serendipity is a favorite with our guide staff and has been our number one selling nymph pattern at the Slide Inn over the last six years.  The thee dollar serendipity is available in size 14-18.
