Madison River
Dam: 813 cfs
The repetition continues…The Upper Madison is still fishing extremely well with nymphs throughout the day, and the late morning-early afternoon midge activity has continued to produce incredible dry fly fishing. Make sure you check the forecast if you are coming over to look for heads, as 15-20 mph winds can put an end to any sort of surface feeding pretty quickly. Also worth mentioning is that with the lack of snow we’ve been experiencing over the past two weeks, most of the boat ramps in the upper section are still accessible…we actually did a quick float from Lyons to Palisades the other day and while it was too windy for any good dry fly activity, the streamer fishing more than made up for it. Our best flies were olive peanut envys and double screamers, but we also got a few fish to chase some smaller JJs as well.
